Ras Al Khaimah: In a dramatic and life-saving operation, the UAE National Guard, in collaboration with Ras Al Khaimah Police, successfully airlifted an elderly man to safety from the rugged mountains of Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday.
The man, in his seventies, had become severely fatigued and dehydrated during a challenging hike in the mountainous terrain. Overcome by intense fatigue and high temperatures, he was unable to continue or find his way back down.
Upon receiving the emergency alert, the National Search and Rescue Center quickly identified the man's remote location, which was inaccessible by land. A rescue helicopter was dispatched immediately, reaching him and transporting him swiftly to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The successful mission underscores the preparedness and teamwork of the UAE’s emergency response teams. The National Guard and Ras Al Khaimah Police have since encouraged all mountain visitors and nature lovers to adhere to safety guidelines, stay hydrated, and remain aware of weather conditions, particularly during the warmer months. Officials also urged the public to report any emergencies by calling the National Search and Rescue hotline at 995, stressing that prompt notifications can significantly impact life-saving efforts.
