Phoebe Gates, daughter of Bill Gates, shared her experiences of introducing men to her billionaire father. In an interview with "Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper, the 22-year-old described how men often feel "terrified" when meeting her "socially awkward" dad. "It's pretty intimidating for them to meet my 69-year-old father at his $63 million Washington estate," Phoebe said, noting that she is currently dating Arthur, the grandson of Paul McCartney. While her father's presence has scared off some potential partners, Phoebe finds the situation "hilarious." She explained, "My dad is quite socially awkward, which I think is really funny. He has mentioned that he has Asperger's, so for me, it's amusing. But I think it really unsettles the guys." Phoebe also recounted an "embarrassing" memory from her childhood. "I’ll never forget one of my first dances in high school, probably during my sophomore or junior year. My mom had signed my dad up to drive me and my date."

While driving, Phoebe shared that her father made them listen to NPR (National Public Radio) and then mistakenly called the boy accompanying her by the wrong name. “I literally wanted to die, but honestly, I think it’s easier for me now because it’s just funny. When you introduce a guy to your dad, his reaction can really tell you if the guy is worth it,” she explained.
Phoebe finds humor in the situation, noting that she is more of a “people person” than her father. “It used to be a running joke that our family would be so boring if I hadn’t been born. I would make my dad talk to all the other dads and daughters at the father-daughter dances my mom insisted we attend. I’d say, ‘No. If we’re here, we’re going to socialize. We need to work this room, Bill.’”
However, Phoebe, who met Arthur during a collaboration event with Stella McCartney and has been dating him for two years, admitted there is one thing she...
Phoebe's revelation comes just weeks after he disclosed the specific percentage of his wealth that he intends to pass on to his three children. He noted that their inheritance will be less than 1 percent of his remarkable fortune of $US152 billion ($A234 billion), according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The Microsoft founder shared his thoughts on inheritance during an episode of Raj Shamani's podcast, "Figuring Out," where he was asked if he believes it is a parent's responsibility to "save everything for their kids."
Gates stated that the discussion surrounding inheritance ultimately reflects the views of each individual parent. He emphasized that it wouldn't benefit his children to feel pressured to uphold a "dynasty."
"Everyone has the right to make that choice. In my situation, my kids received an excellent upbringing and education, but they will inherit less than 1 percent of my total wealth," he clarified. "I believe it wouldn’t be advantageous for them to receive more. This isn’t a dynasty, and I’m not expecting them to manage Microsoft."
It's worth noting that 1 percent of $152 billion is still a significant amount, meaning each of Bill's three children—Jennifer, 28, Rory, 25, and Phoebe—could potentially receive around $1.52 billion each, assuming they each get their share of his fortune.
Gates did not provide details on how his wealth will be inherited. While the centibillionaire has substantial cash reserves, he also owns a variety of valuable assets, including expensive properties throughout the U.S.
At the center of his real estate holdings is Xanadu 2.0, a compound in Washington state named after the fictional estate from the film "Citizen Kane." According to Realtor, Gates began construction on this property in 1988, prior to his marriage to Melinda.
Situated in the Seattle suburb of Medina, the compound boasts numerous amenities, including a sophisticated security system that can identify residents based on the weight of their footsteps, thanks to pressure-sensitive floors. Gates originally acquired the land for Xanadu 2.0 for $2 million and subsequently invested around $63 million in renovations, transforming it into a modern oasis suitable for a tech mogul. The current estimated value of the home is believed to be significantly higher.
