Nikola Čorbová Makes History in the Himalayas
Slovak athlete Nikola Čorbová has made history by winning the Himalayan Xtri in Nepal, one of the world's most challenging triathlons. Competing in the extreme conditions of the highest mountain range, she became the first woman to secure the overall victory, surpassing all male and female competitors. With a remarkable finishing time of 17 hours and 8 minutes for over 200 kilometers of swimming, cycling, and running, she also set a new course record, according to the Pravda daily.
Her emotional conclusion near the revered peaks of Machapuchare and Annapurna, highlighted by the sound of a symbolic bell, was a significant moment in endurance sports. Čorbová’s achievement not only demonstrated her remarkable physical and mental resilience but also paved the way for women in extreme triathlon competitions. As she expressed, “I felt like I had wings… WE won!”
