The Japan Sumo Association has unanimously agreed to elevate 24-year-old ozeki Onosato to the rank of the 75th yokozuna. This decision was made during a meeting focused on wrestler rankings for the upcoming Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament in July, as well as a special board of directors meeting held on Wednesday.
Onosato is the first new yokozuna from Japan in eight years, following Kisenosato.
