The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, has received an invitation from Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni to visit Italy at his convenience, according to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan. The two leaders held discussions during the “Central Asia – Italy” summit in Astana. They acknowledged the positive progress in their bilateral trade and economic cooperation, particularly in the oil and gas sector, transportation, the textile industry, and collaboration between their business communities.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the considerable opportunities for enhancing collaboration in the energy and chemical sectors, railway infrastructure development, environmental protection, agriculture, and water management. To streamline trade and economic cooperation, the president of Turkmenistan suggested establishing a coordination mechanism, either as an intergovernmental commission or a business council. Additionally, he extended an invitation to the Italian Prime Minister to visit Ashgabat for the Forum of Peace and Trust, scheduled for December 12, which will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's declaration of permanent neutrality.
