The sessions court in Kuala Terengganu has sentenced a former headmaster to 15 years in prison for sexually harassing and raping a female student. Judge Azman Mustapha stated that the defense did not establish reasonable doubt regarding the 13 charges against Rosli Abd Rahman, 60, as reported by Berita Harian.
The charges included verbal harassment, sexual assault, and rape of the victim, who was 16 years and 8 months old when the offenses began.
These offenses occurred between November 2020 and November 2021 in Kuala Terengganu and Marang.
Even though the total possible prison time for the charges could have reached 107 years, the court decided that the sentences would run concurrently, leading to a 15-year term.
While an appeal is pending, the court has granted a stay of execution of the sentence and increased Rosli’s bail by RM40,000.
Deputy public prosecutor Noradila Ab Latif led the prosecution, and Rosli was represented by lawyer Abdul Rahman Razak.
