Princess Elisabeth, the 23-year-old future queen of Belgium, has just finished her first year at Harvard University. However, a ban imposed by the Trump administration on foreign students could threaten her ability to continue her studies. On Thursday, the administration revoked Harvard's permission to enroll international students, requiring current foreign students to either transfer to other institutions or risk losing their legal status in the U.S. There are also indications that this crackdown may extend to other colleges.
"Princess Elisabeth has just finished her first year. The effects of the Trump administration's decision will become clearer in the days and weeks ahead, according to Lore Vandoorne, spokesperson for the Belgian Royal Palace.

"We are currently assessing the situation and allowing time for things to settle. A lot can still unfold in the coming days and weeks," added Xavier Baert, the palace's communication director.
Elisabeth is pursuing a master's degree in public policy at Harvard, a two-year program designed to expand students' perspectives and enhance their skills for a successful career in public service, as stated on the university's website".
The princess, the eldest of four children of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, is the heir to the Belgian throne. Prior to her studies at Harvard, she obtained a degree in history and politics from Oxford University in the UK. On Thursday, Harvard stated that the Trump administration's actions, which impact thousands of students, were illegal and constituted retaliation.
