Pakistan will refrain from escalating tensions in its conflict with India, provided that New Delhi halts its Sindoor military operation and other aggressive actions, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told Bloomberg Television.
"As we have consistently stated over the past two weeks, we will never initiate hostility towards India. However, if we are attacked, we will respond. If India de-escalates, we will certainly work to resolve this tension," Asif said.

India's Defense Ministry announced the initiation of Operation Sindoor, during which its armed forces targeted nine locations in Pakistan. The statement indicated that these strikes were aimed at sites associated with planning and directing terrorist attacks against India. The ministry emphasized that this operation was a response to the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry reported that eight individuals lost their lives in the Indian airstrikes, with an additional 35 people injured. Meanwhile, the Pakistani army stated that five Indian fighter jets, including MiG-29s, Su-30s, and three Rafale aircraft, were downed.
