On Monday, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam honored the memory of the late journalist and intellectual Samir Kassir, commemorating the 20th anniversary of his assassination. In a post on X, Salam stated, “Twenty years ago today, they succeeded in taking Samir Kassir's life, but his words endure. Today, I reclaim his voice, his ideas, and his writing.”
Salam praised Kassir as a courageous champion of freedom and democracy, unafraid to challenge oppression and foreign control. "He wrote with the bravery of someone who understood that truth cannot be compromised," he stated.
