The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has launched the world's largest cooling system in preparation for the 1446 Hajj season. This system has a total cooling capacity of 155,000 tons. The air conditioning setup for the Grand Mosque is supported by two main stations: Al-Shamiya Station, which has a capacity of 120,000 tons, and Ajyad Station, with a capacity of 35,000 tons.
Together, these stations provide cooling throughout the entire mosque complex, including all expansion areas, ensuring that pilgrims enjoy comfortable temperatures between 22°C and 24°C. Additionally, the system features advanced purification technologies that effectively eliminate 95% of airborne impurities, maintaining optimal air quality.
This guarantees a clean and safe environment for pilgrims, especially during the intense summer heat. The Haram Authority is actively and consistently maintaining the area, which involves replacing essential components, securing work sites, and managing resources effectively to meet the increased demand during Hajj.
