Icelandic musicians Emilíana Torrini and Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson have been nominated for the 2025 Nordic Council Music Prize. Both artists have received nominations for this esteemed award in the past.
According to mbl.is, the Nordic Council Music Prize, established in 1965, recognizes musical creativity and performances of exceptional artistic quality.
In a statement, the organizers noted, “This year’s nominations showcase the finest of contemporary Nordic music, highlighting the diversity and excellence of the region's music scene.”
Emilíana Torrini is a celebrated Icelandic singer-songwriter, recognized for her ethereal voice and her unique fusion of folk and electronic music. In contrast, Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson is a distinguished Icelandic pianist, acclaimed for his emotive interpretations of both classical and contemporary works.
