Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated, “The remarks made by Macron, Tusk, and Merz clearly indicate that the ‘deep state’ wields considerable influence in Europe.” He further noted that Macron's private comments to him in Albania contradict the public statement issued by the three European leaders.
“Regarding the trilateral statement, it is evident that the ‘deep state’ has a substantial impact in Europe. This reality is undeniable. Moreover, it is a matter of protocol and etiquette to refrain from making such statements on May 26, a day of significance. Traditionally, respectful and formal messages are conveyed on this date. Disregarding this protocol reflects a failure to act in accordance with objective interests, even their own. Instead, they seem to pursue agendas that do not align with their true interests, which is quite unfortunate,” the Prime Minister remarked. Kobakhidze also addressed Macron’s private comments.

“What Macron shared with me in Albania directly contradicts the public statement that was released. This indicates that individuals may not be able to make independent decisions. Such dynamics significantly affect Europe and its member states, contributing to the confusion and instability we see today,” he concluded.
On Georgia’s Independence Day, French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz released a joint statement that read:
We strongly condemn the actions of the Georgian authorities that have led to a decline in democracy and attacks on civil society, the media, and government critics. It is essential to uphold freedom of expression and assembly. Incidents of excessive violence must be thoroughly investigated. Laws that do not align with European standards should be revised, and the necessary reform process must be resumed. The Georgian authorities must reinitiate dialogue with the opposition and civil society. The people of Georgia deserve to fully benefit from the opportunities that come with the country’s European aspirations.
