China strongly opposes any countries entering into trade agreements with the U.S. that compromise Chinese interests in exchange for tariff relief, as stated by the Ministry of Commerce on Saturday night.
An unnamed spokesperson responded to media inquiries regarding recent U.S. trade discussions with other nations, saying, “If such a situation arises, China will not accept it and will take decisive countermeasures to protect its legitimate rights and interests. It has been demonstrated that a country can only safeguard its rights by steadfastly upholding its principles and positions.”
The U.S. has been implementing reciprocal tariffs on its trading partners, which are set to increase in early July unless trade agreements are reached. The spokesperson described this as a typical act of unilateral bullying that significantly undermines the multilateral trading system and disrupts the normal international trade order. They emphasized that China has consistently and firmly opposed such actions.
