A fatwa issued by a senior Iranian cleric has emerged just days after Donald Trump asserted that he saved Ayatollah Khamenei from “an ugly and ignominious death.” This religious ruling follows Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and targets both him and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The fatwa was delivered by Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi in response to inquiries from a group regarding the threats posed by Trump and Netanyahu against Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to Iran's Mehr news agency, Shirazi stated, "Any person or regime that threatens the Leader or Marja (may God forbid) is considered an enemy of God." In Shia Islam, "Marja" refers to top clerics who issue legal rulings based on Islamic law.
Shirazi further emphasized that it is "haram" for Muslims and Islamic nations to support such enemies. He urged Muslims worldwide to ensure that these adversaries regret their words and actions.
